Online Therapy Agreement

COUNSELLOR SECTION 

Emails can be exchanged in different ways. Please indicate your preference in the Client Section of this Agreement. 

We exchange emails on a weekly basis 

We exchange several emails over a week, with a maximum of 6 exchanges per week.

Confidentiality 

I keep our counselling sessions and records confidential within the framework described in the guidelines of the HPCSA and on my website  HYPERLINK “http://www.psychealth.net” www.psychealth.net.  Your identity and personal details will be protected by me. However, as in traditional therapeutic contexts, exceptions to confidentiality exist where I believe there is a serious risk to you or others, or where I’m legally compelled to break confidentiality. In the unusual or rare event that I break confidentiality, this will be done with your knowledge where possible and only to those people who need to know (e.g. a doctor).

It is important that you take precautions to keep our work confidential by securing your computer and correspondence appropriately such as using a hotmail address, or encrypting your emails.

Referral 

If I believe that face to face counselling would be a better way to help you I will suggest that either we hold face to face sessions or, if this is not possible, I will assist you to find a counsellor near to you, and support you whilst you made the change to face to face counselling. 

Emergency Contact 

In the event of complete technology failure, I suggest we each send a text message or leave a voicemail to our mobile phones and use the same system to let the other know when they are back online. My mobile phone number is +27 726305332 or landline +27 317644886.

Payment: The charges for my counselling services are:

  • one-time consultation, or pay for one session at a time R100 (minimum of one page response; a single session includes your email and my response).
  • Exchange up to 6 emails per week and pay per week R500 (I respond within 24 hours, or advise you where this is not possible).
  • Payment is by Internet bank transfer (details emailed to you).

Please note: Online Counselling is not currently covered by Medical Aid.
